Samsung has Invented 5G Network Technology!!!

Samsung, a renowned South Korean electronic goods manufacturer, has recently declared the invention of 5G Network Technology! Certainly this is a major breakthrough in the network technology. Samsung also added- this technology will be implemented within few years for the customers. 

What is 5G Actually? 

The latest available mobile communication technology is 4G - Fourth Generation. And the next possible network technology should be 4.5G. In many countries of the world even 3G technology is still not available. Few countries have adopted 4G Network recently. So why is Samsung working with 5G? Actually this is the world of technology. It's nature is rapidness. Breakthrough is the nature of technology. 

In order to transmit a large volume of data, the researchers of Samsung have invented a new technique. Using this technology, someone can send a huge amount of data within seconds! Even a super HD video can be transmitted in a few seconds.  

As said by Samsung, Fifth Generation Network will be several hundred times faster than Fourth Generation Network. 

“Samsung’s latest innovation is expected to invigorate research into 5G cellular communications across the world,” the company said. “The company believes it will trigger the creation of international alliances and the timely commercialization of related mobile broadband services.”

Once commercialized, 5G mobile technology will allow users to transmit huge data files, like high-quality digital movies, “practically without limitation,” it said.

Samsung hopes that 5G Technology will be available by 2020. If it is implemented then the users will be able to watch a high definition 3D video in real time. And 1 GB data can be transferred within just one second. And definitely you will be able to download a large movie or software without wasting any time. After the implementation of 5G Network, broadband cables will be unnecessary to connect to the internet. 

Samsung has declared the breakthrough after testing the performance of the new system. In the test, they were able to transmit more than one gigabyte data per second within a range of two kilometers. 

The invention of 5G technology has also created some controversial issues. Critics have warned about higher costs, side effects etc. 

The technology experts of Samsung have said, the competition is being increased rapidly to take the lead of next generation mobile network. Therefore, Samsung is working to spread the next generation network technology and trying to market the mobile broadband in time. 

But I'm confused about one thing. If you can download 1 GB data in a second then what should be the size of your memory card? 1 TB?? Is it possible to get 1 TB memory card for a mobile? At best 32 GB memory card is available in the market. 

No problem. Samsung says 5G Network will take 7 years more to be available in the market. And by this time the memory card manufacturer may create more than 1 TB memory card! :)

Google Takes Over News Stream Service Wavii

Doesn't Wavii logo look like Google? Yes it is! Wavii changed their logo as it is acquired by Google! Tech giants often take over innovative services which have bright future. Few days ago, Yahoo acquires Samli, a news service. Last year Microsoft purchased Skype. And just now Google have acquired Wavii. 

Before the acquisition, Wavii used the following logo:

Google has purchased many services so far and improved them a lot. Many of which are quite profitable. Such as YouTube, Blogspot etc. And recently it takes over Wavii, which might be used to improve the search results. 

Wavii has been created by a group of experts, who previously worked in the organizations like Microsoft, Amazon etc. Founded last year, Wavii provides customized news feeds to the users and summarizes news stories, tweets and blog posts for them. Considering the importance, Apple was also interested to purchase Wavii. But Google managed the deal before Apple! :) 

Google didn't publish any news about the price of the Wavii. But it is estimated that it costs  Google about $30 million.

Record Fall in Apple's Profit within Last Decade!

Smartphone giant apple faces a record fall in their quarterly profit within last decade! In the first quarter of this year, Apple earned profit $9.5 billion. And in the previous year, it was $11.6 billion! Gross margin for the quarter was 37.5% compared to 47.4% in the last year. 

Market analysts said, Apple could face huge fall in their profit. But the profit earned from iPhone and iPad has saved Apple this time. To be honest, the results were better than many had expected, as strong sales of iPhone and iPad boosted revenues to $43.6 billion. Expert says, due to the increase in competition and declining demands for the products, Apple is facing such challenge.

Apple reported its second quarter result in April 23, 2013. The sales volume of iPhone and iPad were 37.4 million and 19.5 million respectively. In the previous year the number of iPhone sold was 35.1 million and iPad was 11.8 billion. The number of Mac sold is less than 4 million which was exact 4 million in the last year. 

Apple CEO, Tim Cook Said- 

“We are pleased to report record March quarter revenue thanks to continued strong performance of iPhone and iPad. Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services and we are very excited about the products in our pipeline.”

Slowing demand for Apple's products during the time of increased competition hurts its share price recently.

   

"Though we've achieved a credible scale and financial success, we acknowledge that our growth rate has slowed and our margins have decreased from the exceptionally high level we experienced in 2012,"

Tim Cook, while demanding that Apple had always met its own estimates, also mentioned that others had been disappointed recently - and seemed eager to calm investors' fears.

But he also made it clear that the next few months will be a lean period, with teams working hard to introduce new products "this fall and throughout 2014".

Apple's boss is promising that innovation isn't over at his company - but investors' patience will be tested through the summer.

Google Home Page is Getting Changed!

The search giant Google may change their home page! Google named this project as Google Now. The new screen will look like iGoogle. Users will have the choice to select the gadgets that they want to be appeared on the screen. And Google has already announced that the iGoogle will not be available after November 01, 2013. 

Actually Google is trying to compete with Facebook. Facebook is so popular that Google can't beat it even after having a large number of product and service categories. People are continuing to increase their time on social networks. To catch the people's attention, Google launched the Google plus two years ago. At the beginning, it seems that Google Plus will be able to knock down Facebook. But reality was quite different. Still Google is trying to improve their service quality. Maybe the new project, Google Now, is a part of this effort.  

If the new home page, Google Now, is launched then it will be look somewhat like yahoo. Yahoo home page shows different types of gadgets- Sports News, Weather, Political Issues etc. The new homepage of Google will include different types of information at the home page. And users will be able to add or remove cards as they like. This will be the basic difference between Google and Yahoo Homepage. 

Google is now working to introduce this new service in Android Phones and Chromebook Pixel.

Actually most of the users of Google don't like to use iGoogle. It is less popular because of delay in loading the page. And it is relatively complicated too. As a result, Google is going to stop the iGoogle within this year. And trying to promote the new service- Google Now. 

But introducing such a service at the home page may be a great risk for Google. Because most of the people are used to search information at Google Home Page. People like fast loading sites. When the new screen appears, it will not be as usual as we want. In that case, Google may loose its popularity as search engine! And it could be a great opportunity for bing. 

As a precautionary measure, Google can let people choose whether they want to see the new look or old. But I'm quite sure more than 70% people will be choosing the old look. Because most of the people use Google for searching information. And when they will see the new look, they will feel bore. 

Google should launch the new screen in such a way so that it never bother the users. If Google forces users to continue with the new look, it will loose popularity as a search engine.

CFO Peter Klein is Going to Leave Microsoft

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Peter Klein, is gonna leave Microsoft within next month. Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, had said a new CFO will be named within few weeks from their Finance Leadership Team. Peter said he is willing to spend his time with the family after working for over the last 30 years. 

Peter Klein is an 11 year Microsoft Expert. And he is working as CFO for more than 3.5 years. He said this is a perfect time for him to resign from the Microsoft. Because the financial position of the organization is very strong at present. 

Klein contributed a lot in the acquisition of Skype and Yammer. He has also exhibited good oversight on Cost Controls as CFO. 

Microsoft's profit has been boosted by revenue earned from Windows, Office, Video Games etc. Earnings rose to $6 billion, or 72 cents per share, from $5.1 billion, or 60 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenue improved by 18 percent from $17.41 billion to $20.49 billion a year ago. But European Union has fined the company ($732 million) for breaking promises relating to expanding the choice of Internet browsers on Windows.

Peter Klein's Resignation Letter:

One noteworthy characteristic of Finance is the regularity of its rhythm – month end, quarter end, year end. Every one of those milestones marks the passage of time. And as time passes, and milestones are marked, we all periodically reflect on our lives, our goals, and our priorities. As we approach the end of the fiscal year, I have been reflecting in that way. And I have decided that now is a good time for me to step away from Microsoft and take some time to spend with my family in a way that I haven't had the opportunity to do in the 30 years I have been working.

This has not been an easy decision. I love Microsoft. I love my job. When I joined Microsoft 11 years ago I had this loosely held belief that people were one of the most important elements of any job or any company. I had no idea how profoundly true that is, but I do now. People are everything. Microsoft is the most amazing collection of talented, passionate and caring people I could ever imagine being associated with. It's been an honor and my good fortune to have been part of that.

I am proud of the work that Finance has done and the impact we have had on the Company. One reason that now is a good time to leave is that the organization is very strong, and I am delighted we will be naming an internal candidate. I couldn't be more optimistic about both the Company's and Finance's future.

Looking ahead, I have no specific plans. In the short term I will work to ensure a smooth transition. After that I intend to spend time with my extended family which is dispersed throughout the country and hopefully get to some long deferred travel. For the last 11 years Microsoft has been my family and now I am going to focus on my other family.

Thanks for being such a great team – I will follow your success with great interest and pride.

Steve Ballmer's Announcement to Employees:

Today in our earnings release, we announced that after nearly four years as CFO and 11 years at Microsoft, Peter Klein has decided to step down as CFO and leave Microsoft at the end of our current fiscal year. I will be naming a new CFO from our finance leadership team in the next several weeks.

Peter has been a key part of my leadership team and a strong advisor to me during his tenure. He helped drive the successful Skype and Yammer acquisitions, has had a profound impact on the finance profession overall, and exhibited good oversight on cost controls as CFO. I have really enjoyed working with Peter, and appreciate his many contributions to the finance organization, to Microsoft and to me.

I'm sure all of you have seen media coverage from the last two weeks. As I said in our earnings release, our long term bets on the cloud are paying off, and while the mobile device environment is challenging, the decisions we made with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 set us up well for long term growth. Analysts expressed their opinion as- Klein's resignation will not be good for Microsoft as the overall situation was satisfactory during his time. And if any reason, Steve Ballmer follows the path of Klein, then it will be a real trouble for Microsoft.

Apple CEO Apologizes for the Poor Customer Service in China!

Though China is the Apple's second largest market it was continuously neglected by the company. Apple's warranty service was very poor in china. And also there were some misunderstandings about warranty policies caused by communication gap. Consequently the consumers of Apple in China were very disappointed as they were not getting enough after sales services compared to other counties. And finally Apple CEO, Tim Cook, apologizes to the Chinese consumers of their products.

Actually, Apple was losing its reputation in China. And its nearest competitor, Samsung, could take the chance. So this apology is being considered as a part of strategy. 

The Chinese Government-run media was protesting Apple for more than two weeks. The complaints were about Poor Customer Service and Warranty Policy of Apple in China. Consumers were also dissatisfied with Apple. They want Apple to improve the service quality in China. The Chinese Government is also trying to implement a new law to regulate the foreign handset manufacturers. 

The Apple CEO, Tim Cook, also reacted accordingly. He signed a letter by apologizing to the consumer with a promise to change the customer service policy and warranty service. 

Some important parts of the letter are mentioned here: 

"We are aware that a lack of communications . . . led to the perception that Apple is arrogant and doesn't care or attach enough importance to consumer feedback." 

Mr. Cook also said, according to the letter- "We express our sincere apologies for any concerns or misunderstandings this gave consumers."

China has been a vital consumer market for Apple. Last year, the sales volume in china reached $23.8 billion representing its 15% total revenue. More importantly, China is now the world's biggest market for smart phone manufacturer. In this situation, if Apple doesn't take necessary actions to the consumer feedback definitely Samsung will capture the market share. So, Apple can't avoid the demand of Chinese consumers. 

Apple should also consider the emotional aspects. Few years ago a Chinese boy who didn't have the enough money to purchase an iPhone and he sold his Kidney to purchase it! Sometimes newspaper reported that people is selling their blood to buy iPhone. These all prove that Chinese really like Apple. 

There are rational aspects too. Apple have their factory in china. As a local people Chinese can expect some facilities. But they feel they are being discriminated by Apple! 

So, as soon as possible, Apple should fix these sensitive issues in order to keep their position as a market leader. Once they are out of the track, it will be really hard for them to get back to the position.

Join Google Plus Community with Over 500 Million People!

The number of Google + users is being increased rapidly. And I've already posted twice on Google Plus. You can have a look if didn't read this before-

Today's post is just a follow up of the previous posts. Many of you may be interested to know - How many users does Google + has currently? The answer is bewildering! 

500 Million +

Can you imagine? 500 Million users within less than 2 years! Google + was launched on June 28, 2011. And on December 06, 2012 Google announced that their total users are more than 500 million. Source: Google Official Blog.

It is also said that only 135 million people are active in the Google Plus Stream. And 235 are active through Google. And others are not very active. Even people don't share too much status updates like Twitter or Facebook. 

Though Google Plus is growing very fast but number of active users are not growing in that rate. I think these are the reasons behind this inactive users:

• Most of the people are already in Facebook with their friends or society. They love to share their views or opinions in one place.
• Many users try to stay on Google Plus. But when they found that their friends are using only Facebook, the switch there to get connected.
• Another reason is the interface. Plus has an interface that is very rich but not user friendly. And people have already liked the Facebook interface. So they don't feel easy with Google Plus.
• Delay in loading the site is another important cause. The loading time of Facebook is very fast. But Google Plus is a heavy site. When browsing from a slow connection it irritates the users! That's why Google Plus is not very popular in the third world countries where net connection is not faster. 

But Google Plus has few advantages too:

• Google is integrated with all services of Google- YouTube, Gmail, Blogger etc.
• Unlike Facebook it is not restricted in schools, colleges, universities or Offices! 
• While opening a new Gmail account, users are asked to upgrade in Google Plus.
• New features are adding based on user demands.

15 GB Storage for Gmail Users!

Recently Google increased the storage limit of Gmail. Few days ago the storage limit was 7.5 GB. But from now the storage limit is 10 GB! Can you imagine?! 

The storage limit is based on the size of all the messages and attachments in your mail, including those in Spam and Trash. To introduce the Google Drive as Cloud Service Google offered this increased storage. 

Mentioned that, Gmail was launched by Google on 1st April in 2004. At first, the storage limit was only 1 GB. And it has been increased upto 7.5 GB within 8 years. And now it is 10 GB. An user can check this at the bottom of his Gmail Page as the picture shows. 

Update

Google got a number of competitors in mailing service - specially Microsoft and Yahoo too. Recently Microsoft redesigned their hotmail service. They also changed the name to Outlook.  And yahoo has also redesigned their mailing service. Now it looks much better than earlier. 

Google has also changed the Gmail interface for a number of times. But still it looks somewhat messy. But as a package Gmail user get numerous facilities. And now the Gmail user is enjoying 15 GB storage! 

The number of Google + user has exceeded 170 million!

Recently Google has announced this news. Google + is taking different initiatives to compete with Facebook. To increase popularity, many interesting features are being added in Google+.

Google + has already added cover photo, most viewed topic, dynamic navigation menu etc. Of course many people argued that these features are also available in Facebook and Twitter. Some of them also claimed that Google are copying these features.

Senior Vice President of Google said that to make Google + more popular these are the initial steps. Not only in the view of users, due to its lovely outlook and different features Google + is now more creative and user friendly. To accelerate the user experience more features for Google+ is on the way!

Google + users can watch full resolution videos and pictures. To chat with people an online version of Google Talk is placed at the right bottom corner of the screen. And chat list is also available on the left side. Google+ is an integrated service. Users can use Email, Web Search, and Image Search in a single screen with all other products of Google. It’s really amazing!

Google is always taking new steps to increase Google+ users. As most of the net users are already using Facebook for social communication so they can’t leave it immediately. But the experts have agreed that, these steps will help Google to compete with other sites. They said, to compete with Facebook, Google should provide more attractive service to the users. Then the users might be interested to Google+.
